Be sure that you have the proper clothing to prepare for the cold weather, especially if you will need to go outside for any reason. Hats, gloves, scarfs, long socks, winter coats, layers of clothing, long pants, and ear warmers are all important for this type of weather. Frostbite can being within just a few minutes in the cold, so protecting yourself should be a priority.
Make sure your car is ready for any travel during the snow or extreme cold. Your windshield wipers should be recently changed to be sure that they work properly. Check your vehicle’s tires to make sure they are properly inflated and that they have a good amount of tread. Double-check all headlights, blinkers, and brake lights. If you are driving, make sure to pack a emergency kit that includes a flashlight, jumper cables, flares, ice scraper, tire change kit, spare tire, a phone charger, and water and non-perishable food.
